The Danish Defence has chosen to add e-learning from Edvantage group, one of the leading e-learning vendors in the Nordic countries, to the traditional classroom training when educating the personnel from the Danish Defence in the standards from PRINCE2 and ITIL. By doing so, The Danish Defence is effectively using new technology in the area of education and will gain important operational advantage.
Edvantage Group has started a long-term cooperation with the Danish Defence to educate all of the personnel in the project standard PRINCE2 as well as the process standard ITIL for the IT-department. The change from traditional classroom training to e-learning is a cornerstone in the strategy of the Danish Defence. The goal is to offer the best and most flexible education in the field of project standards, to as many people as possible. In this strategy, Edvantage group is now a key player, working together with the UK-based producer of the courses, ILX Group.
E-learning courses with a very high standard
"We want to be able to offer as many of our employees as possible in the Defence the best education possible. The agreement with Edvantage Group makes it possible for us to educate all of the employees we want to with e-learning of a very high standard. This means that for less money we can educate far more people with e-learning than with the traditional classroom training", explains Mr. John Ib Hansen, Manager of the Project Section, Danish Defence IT Management Agency.
The education in PRINCE2 and ITIL is important because the Danish Defence aims to standardise the most important work processes throughout the entire organisation. To secure an effective and flexible spreading of the standards, they chose to focus on e-learning. Edvantage group will now assist in implementation.
"The agreement with the Danish Defence confirms Edvantage group’s strategy to be a complete provider of e-learning solutions has succeeded. Edvantage group has demonstrated the necessary skill and technology to secure cooperation with one of the most demanding organisations within the education area in Denmark. At the same time, the agreement with the Danish Defence opens up exciting opportunities for other government agencies. We look forward to a promising cooperation," says Kenneth Bæk, Managing Director of Edvantage Group Denmark.
The agreement with the Danish Defence is a 3-year site-license with access to PRINCE2, ITIL and MSP at a value of DKK 3,6 mill. As a part of the agreement with Edvantage Group, the Danish Defence has made sure that both PRINCE2 and ITIL is available in Danish, and also that it is possible for the Danish Defence to buy e-learning courses in participating in projects (APMIC) as well as risk-management in projects.
