Oslo, December 10, 2007 - Edvantage group, a pioneer in e-learning solutions, announced today the release of CourseBuilder
5.0 – a new version of its web-based e-learning authoring and content development tool. New functionality in this release
offers significant enhancements for the translation and localisation of e-learning content.
As organisations become more global, content developers are looking for easier
ways to create compelling e-learning content that matches linguistic, social and cultural needs. Some tools address this need,
but they usually offer only one way of working. Now, with CourseBuilder 5.0, users have two ways of easily creating multilingual
versions of the same course– translate text and replace pictures, graphics, and other media elements directly into a master
copy of the course or create standard-based XML Localization Interchange File Format (XLIFF) files for translation.
“In some cases, it may be best to export entire courses and send files externally for translation. In other cases, organisations want to use internal resources to translate and localise content – and keep it updated. We want to meet all these needs by providing a flexible and comprehensive solution that allows courses to be produced quickly and at low cost.” says Thomas Berglund, CEO, Edvantage group.
New functionality simplifies and expedites each of the key translation and localisation processes and includes:
- support for all languages including multi-byte character sets
- translation of all points of the learner interaction – includes translation of course buttons, navigation buttons, chapter headings and system messages
- automatic creation of master module - no need to import or export
- master module links to copies - when changes are made in the master copy changes are highlighted across all translated/localised copies allowing for easy version control
- easy replacement or repurposing of media content using the central media repository
- automatic versioning – built-in version control that automatically tracks and records changes to the master courses when courses are re-published
“This release shows how CourseBuilder product development is driven by a solid understanding of the way people want to create content and keep it updated. This is gained by working hand-in-hand with our customers that have a range of skill levels and goals as well as the experience of our own in-house team of professional instructional designers who use CourseBuilder for producing customised content,” continues Berglund.
