Oakham, UK – 03 March, 2010 – Edvantage group, an e-learning company and Managed Learning Service provider, with the Insolvency Service, have launched a series of four e-learning modules which replaces the existing induction programme.
The new modules are designed to deliver user-friendly, bite-sized chunks of learning to the 150 – 250 of new employees each year. Topics covered include general information, health & safety and security. Users can also revisit any of the modules by way of a refresher when, and if, required.
The development of the modules was outsourced to Edvantage group. They were developed using CourseBuilder, a collaborative authoring tool, providing all those in the joint development team with access to the modules in production. Edvantage group also provided a consultant Project Manager to work within the Insolvency Service on a number of projects.
This collaborative approach has proven to be successful on a number of other projects and ensures that the Insolvency Service gets best value for money. An accessible version of the programme is also being created and now the ground work has been done there is no reason why it cannot be adapted for other central government departments.
The induction modules are delivered through Edvantage group’s Learning Management System, Learning Gateway, which allows the new starters direct access to the learning and Line Managers can use the system to provide any necessary support.
Head of People Development & Learning at the Insolvency Service, Roger Taylor, explains “We are really pleased with this project which involved a number of key people in the development team. One thing we have learnt is that collaboration really pays off and by using the right tool you can involve lots of people but keep the production programme moving.”
Mike Newton, Sales Director at Edvantage group says, “By offering our Managed Learning Service, clients like the Insolvency Service can select the levels of service they need on an ongoing basis, which allows them to optimise the use of internal resources.”
A previous project created by Edvantage group and delivered through Benson Payne for the Insolvency Service, Examiner2Manager (E2M), won the Gold award for ‘Staff Development Programme of the Year’ at the IT Training Awards which clearly endorses the fact that the Insolvency Service and their preferred partners are producing e-learning of the highest calibre. Roger Taylor commented, “Thanks to the IITT for recognising the value of our staff development programme. It’s a fantastic accolade and great for our work to be recognised in this way. We are very proud of the award.”
